What is a digital garden?
A digital garden is a collection of ideas and notes still in motion and associated with each other. It’s our very own place to plant half-baked thoughts and notes publicly. In my mind, a digital garden is a natural evolution of a blog.
The idea is not new but as old as the Internet itself. The history of digital gardens is a good rabbit hole in itself. A good starting point could be Maggie Appleton’s essay on A Brief History & Ethos of the Digital Garden.
Why digital garden?
- Ideas are not supposed to be final but evolving.
- Less rigid, giving more flexibility and allowing for evolution.
- Less performance pressure, leading to a higher velocity.
- Allows for peer review, improving overall quality.
